I agree
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree...all the high street 'fast fashion' stores are to blame for the poor conditions our garments are made in today...I think the worst thing is that the likes of other stores have the cheek to charge even more for the products! And although people say a boycott is the only way to stop it - I disagree...after seeing documentaries (such as Primark on the Racks) it appears that the people sewing the garments rely on the likes of Primark for such work...if it wasnt sewing clothes for us Westerners they would be faced with worse circumstances like prostitution and crime.
ReplyDeletePlease see American Apparel, say what you want about the clothes but the production of the garments within the US and not outsourcing and still turning a product. It is possible!
ReplyDeleteI agree with this and working in the retail industry know that it is not just Primark that exploit cheap labour, they just don't exploit their customers also!
ReplyDeleteDon't M&S have their Corporate Social Responsibilities online????
ReplyDeleteDon't think u can compare M&S and Primark????????!!!!!!!!
Primark also have their Corporate Social Responsibilities online [http://www.ethicalprimark.co.uk/] - that doesn't prove anything.
ReplyDeleteAs discussed:
'Primark scores just 2.5 out of 20 on an ethical index that ranks the leading clothing chains on criteria such as workers' rights and whether they do business with oppressive regimes. Mk One and Marks & Spencer were ranked second and third worst for ethics by Ethical Consumer magazine.'
